According to the Income Tax Department, actor Sonu Sood has evaded tax worth more than Rs 20 crore. After investigating his house in Mumbai in the last three days, the Income Tax Department issued this information by issuing a statement on Saturday.

48-year-old Sood has recently been made the brand ambassador for a program of Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party. According to the Income Tax Department, Sood’s non-profit organization raised Rs 2.1 crore through crowdfunding from abroad, which is in violation of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act.

The Income Tax Department said in its statement that during the search at the locations linked to Sonu Sood and his associates, evidence related to tax evasion has been found. The main modus operandi adopted by Sonu was to show his undisclosed income as loans taken from fictitious sources.

“In the investigation so far, 20 such entries have been found which the givers have believed during the investigation to be fake. They confessed that they had given checks for cash. Evidence has been found that many official receipts have been taxed It has been shown as a loan in the account to avoid evasion. It was also found that these fake loans were used for investment and for purchase of property. According to the information received so far, tax evasion amounting to more than Rs 20 crore has been made. Is.”

According to the statement, “The charity foundation established by the actor on July 21, 2020 has collected donations of Rs 18.94 crore since 01.04. Found me lying in there.”

Cash worth Rs 1.8 crore has been seized during searches and restrictions have been imposed on 11 lockers.

The name of a Lucknow-based company linked to Sonu Sood has also come up in this episode. It is alleged that she was involved in fraudulent billing, forged contracts and misappropriation of expenses.

According to the statement, “The value of the fake contract is more than 65 crores and investigation is going on to gather complete information about tax evasion.”

There has been no comment from Sonu Sood on the allegations made by the Income Tax Department.
