New Delhi: Many times, money is transferred from bank account to wrong account or from one account to another bank account. Sometimes this happens in banking fraud as well. But now UPI, net banking, mobile wallet have reduced the difficulties related to banking transactions to a great extent. In this way, you do not need to go to the bank to transfer money to someone’s account. This work is done in a pinch with just a mobile.
Will get the amount back
Many new technologies have been adopted to make banking facilities easier. But with this came some difficulties. For example, what would you do if you accidentally transferred money to someone else’s account? How can I get that money back? You must have made this mistake at some point or the other. If you accidentally transferred your money to another account, you can get it back.
Give information to the bank
As soon as you come to know that you have transferred money to someone else’s account by mistake, inform your bank immediately. Call the customer care and tell them the whole story. If the bank asks you for all the information on the e-mail, then give full details of the transaction done by this mistake in it. Make sure to mention the date and time of the transaction, your account number and the account to which the money was transferred by mistake.
Transfer to own bank account
If the bank account to which you have transferred the money, the account number itself is wrong or the IFSC code is wrong, then the money will automatically come to your account, but if it is not so, then go to your bank branch and meet the branch manager. Tell him about this wrong transaction. Try to know in which bank account the money has gone. If this wrong transaction has happened in any branch of your own bank, then it will be easily credited to your account.
If transferred to another bank account
If money has been transferred to another bank account by mistake, then it may take more time to get the money back. Sometimes banks can take up to 2 months to settle such cases. You can find out from your bank that in which branch of which city the money has been transferred to which account. You can also try to get your money back by talking to that branch. On the basis of your information, the bank will inform the bank of the person in whose account money has been transferred by mistake. The bank will ask that person for permission to return the wrongly transferred money.
Get a case registered
Another way to get your money back is legal. If the person in whose account the money has been transferred by mistake, refuses to return it, then a case can also be filed against him in the court. However, in case of non-refund of money, this right comes in the context of violation of Reserve Bank rules. As per the guidelines of Reserve Bank of India, it is the responsibility of the linker to give correct information about the beneficiary’s account. If, for any reason, the linker makes a mistake, then the bank will not be responsible for it.
RBI instructions for banks
Nowadays, when you transfer money from a bank account to someone else’s account, you get a message. It is also written in it that if the transaction is wrong then please send this message to this number. RBI has also given instructions to banks that if money gets deposited in someone else’s account by mistake, then your bank will have to take action as soon as possible. The bank is responsible for returning your money from the wrong account to the correct account.
