The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), the apex organization of the country’s traders, has also joined the campaign for boycott of Chinese goods. CAIT has announced a campaign to boycott Chinese goods across the country from June 10. CAIT, representing 7 crore merchants and 40,000 trade associations, will not only inspire traders to distance themselves from the Chinese, but also urge people to adopt indigenous products. On Sunday, CAIT was told that it will start its campaign from June 10. So that indigenous industries can be promoted by boycotting Chinese goods and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s step towards ‘Self-reliant India’ can be taken.

CAIT general secretary Praveen Khandelwal said that to strengthen the government’s ‘Make in India’ mission, we have been campaigning for boycott of Chinese products from time to time. It is the result of this that imports from China have registered a decrease. Imports were $ 76 billion in 2017-18, which has now come down to $ 70 billion. The $ 6 billion decline reflects a shift in the use of indigenous goods and consumer sentiment.

Khandelwal further said that through this campaign, efforts would be made to reduce the import of Chinese goods by about $ 13 billion (about 1 lakh crore rupees) by December 2021. CAIT has prepared a comprehensive list of about 3,000 such products imported from China, whose options are easily available in India. Significantly, since the border dispute, an atmosphere has been created in the country against China and once again the demand for boycott of Chinese goods has started adding up.
