In a tweet issued on Friday by the office of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, “The government has released Rs 6,195.08 crore as the sixth equal monthly installment of Revenue Deficit Grant after partition to 14 states on September 10, 2020. . This amount has been released as per the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission. This will help these states to raise additional resources during the Corona virus crisis. “
This amount has been released to 14 states … Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripur, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
A grant of the same amount was released in the April-August period of the current financial year. Mechanism is provided by the Finance Commission to the Center to compensate the revenue loss of the states. This is called revenue deficit grant after sharing of states’ share in central taxes.
