Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have entered into an agreement to normalize mutual relations. With this agreement, Israel has agreed to suspend the controversial plans of its occupied parts in the West Bank.

Following this agreement, the United Arab Emirates has become the first Gulf Arab country to enter into an agreement to normalize relations with Israel.

While the UAE called it a ‘victory’ of diplomacy in the region, Israel called it a ‘historic day’ for both countries.

But, this agreement is getting different reactions from all over the world. Some countries have welcomed it, some have even called it ‘hypocrisy’.

Turkish heartburn

Turkey has expressed its displeasure over the agreement between Israel and the UAE.

Turkey said that history will never forgive the UAE. Turkey said that this is the hypocritical behavior of the UAE.

Turkey’s foreign ministry said that the conscience of history and people of the region will never forget the ‘hypocritical behavior’ of the UAE on the agreement with Israel because it has taken this decision for its own interests.

A written statement said that ‘Palestinian people and administration were right to give a strong reaction against this agreement’.

“It is very worrying, the UAE should have gone with the ‘Arab Peace Plan’ developed by the Arab League. It is not at all credible that this three-way declaration is being described as a benefit to the Palestinian people.”

Turkey has diplomatic and trade relations with Israel, but these relations have been tense for years.

In Arab countries, the UAE has become the third country to restore relations with Israel after Egypt (1979) and Jordan (1994).

Palestinians consider ‘cheating’

The Palestinian leadership has called the deal a betrayal of Jerusalem and al-Aqsa.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in a statement issued by his spokesman, condemned the Israeli agreement with the UAE.

Mahmoud Abbas senior adviser Nabil Abu-Rudineh said that “the Palestinian leadership rejects the trilateral surprise declaration of the UAE, Israel and the United States”.

He read a statement outside the Palestinian headquarters of Ramallah, saying that the deal was a “fraud with Jerusalem, al-Aqsa and the Palestinian cause”.

A Hamas spokesman said the UAE stabbed the Palestinians in the back.

A senior Palestinian official, Hanan Ashravi, said that Israel was rewarded in 1967 for its actions in Palestinian territories.

He tweeted, “UAE has come out openly about its secret agreements with Israel.”

Iran condemned

Former Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, Hussain Aamir Abdullahiya, condemned the agreement and said that it will not bring peace and security in the area.

He tweeted, “There can be no rationale for this attitude of the UAE. Stepping back from the Palestinian cause, it is a strategic mistake. They will be embroiled in Judaism.”

Egypt, Jordan and Western countries

Egypt’s President Abdel Fateh al-Sisi, a close associate of the UAE, has said that the United Arab Emirates and Israel’s efforts to ‘bring prosperity and stability to our region’ are important to them.

He tweeted, “I have keenly observed and appreciated the joint statement between the United States, United Arab Emirates and Israel to curb Israeli occupation on Palestinian land and bring peace to the Middle East.”

Jordan and Bahrain have also welcomed the deal.

Bahrain says that this agreement will stop Israeli plans of action and increase the chances of peace.
