The World Health Organization’s chief doctor, Tedros Adhamnum Gibriasus, has appealed to corona-positive mothers to continue breastfeeding their newborn.

At a press conference held in Geneva, Doctor Tedros said that the World Health Organization has studied this issue and found that the benefits of breastfeeding are greater for the child than the risk of virus infection.

Doctor Tedros said, “We know that there is a lower risk of Kovid-19 in children than older ones, but there are many other diseases that can put children at greater risk and breast feeding can prevent such diseases.” Based on current evidence, the organization suggests that the benefits of breastfeeding outweigh the risks of virus infection. “

He said, “Mothers who are suspected of being infected with corona or who have been confirmed to be infected should be encouraged to feed the baby. If the mother’s health is not really bad, then the newborn should be from the mother should not be overcome. “

Dr Anshu Banerjee, consultant for reproductive health affairs at the World Health Organization, said, “So far we have not been able to detect any live virus in breast milk i.e., breast milk. There are many cases in which RNA fragments of the virus have been found in breast milk. (The corona virus is made up of RNA, a protein molecule) but so far we have not actually found any live virus in breast milk. Due to this the risk of spreading corona infection from mother to child has not been proven. “

At the same time, the US Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that mother’s milk is the best food for a newborn.

Although the CDC says that so far there is no information about whether the mother can get a virus infection from the mother to the child through breast milk, but according to the limited data available, it is not likely to happen.

The CDC says that the mother should not wash her hands frequently and keep her mouth covered so that the child is not infected with the corona positive mother.

The advice of the British Government Health Service NHS on this issue is also similar to the advice of the World Health Organization.

According to the NHS, so far no evidence has been found that the baby may get corona virus infection from mother’s milk.

The NHS says that there may be a close risk between the mother and the child while weaning the child. Because of this, breast-feeding should be talked to the doctor.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), if the corona positive mother wants to feed the newborn, then she should be asked to wash her hands and cover her mouth.

According to ICMR, so far no evidence of corona virus infection has been found in Breast milk.
