Corona virus: is there a cure in homeopathy?

Spread the love

The government’s Ministry of AYUSH, which promotes alternative treatment methods and medicines, has said that it has never claimed that the corona virus in homeopathy is a “cure” for Kovid 19.
But in spite of this, such messages are continuously spreading through the Internet in India, claiming that alternative medicines are effective to combat the corona virus.

The Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) of the Government of India promotes traditional and alternative medicines.

The Ministry of AYUSH released a press release on 29 January this year stating that there are medicines in homeopathy for the treatment of symptoms of corona virus. The Ministry’s press release issued on 29 January was titled “Homeopathy, Unani medicine useful in preventing symptoms of corona virus infection”.

It was suggested that special care should be taken to avoid the corona virus. Also, to avoid infection, it was also advised to take arsenicum album 30 medicine of homeopathy.

The principle of homeopathic states that if something is eaten with excessive water reaches the stomach of a human, then his “memory” can start the body’s immune process. According to the 30 C dilution of the Ministry of AYUSH, the arsenic molecule will usually become zero when it reaches the stomach.

Arsenicum is found by diluting arsenic trioxide. It is used to treat many symptoms in homeopathy. Since arsenicum is found after 30 C dilution, it does not contain any real molecule of arsenic and for this reason it is considered safe but ineffective by the mainstream.

After the ministry’s press release was criticized, AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik said last week that the release only mentions “drugs that can enhance the body’s immunity. There has never been a claim that this may end with the Corona virus. “

The Ministry says that the release was issued in the form of advice in a “general context” and it was not about the treatment of the disease.

Later on February 4, another press release was issued by the government stating that “There have been some reports in media and medical organizations that tarnish the image of the Ministry of AYUSH and spread disbelief in people against these medical practices.”

It said, “the advice issued by the Ministry neither claims effective treatment of corona virus nor suggests any specific medicine to fight the corona virus.”

But this explanation was lately criticized by The Hindu newspaper. The newspaper said the previously released press release was “highly irresponsible”.

The newspaper said that “treating yourself by taking medicines on your own means that no one will be able to know about the infected person and the chances of the virus spreading from one person to others will increase.”

Viral messages coming on Whatsapp

But despite this explanation, people are sharing a large number of incomplete information taken from the press release on Indian social media.

Many people are sharing this message on WhatsApp with the suggestion that alternative medicines can cure Corona virus Kovid 19.

Looking at these viral messages, the Indian fact-finding website BOOM said this week that they “have not yet received any scientific research in support of the theory that these homeopathic pills may help prevent the spread of the corona virus covid 19” . “

The Logical Indian explores the messages that are going viral on social media. It found that widely used social media users had misunderstood the ministry’s message.

The website stated that “Arsenicum album 30 has never been tested to reduce or prevent corona virus infection and has been proven in some investigation”.

Apart from this, such reports were published in the Indian media that recently the demand for homeopathic treatment of diseases has increased.

According to a report published in the Indian Express newspaper, 11,500 doses of homeopathy were distributed to 3,500 people in India’s southern state Telangana.

Speaking to the News Minute website during a program of drug delivery, a medical officer said, “These pills are not just for the corona virus but for all types of influenza (colds). The strength of one virus is different from other viruses. And this drug is not for treatment, but only for prevention. “

However, due to lack of clear information about corona virus or its treatment and lack of awareness among people, many people were ready to take homeopathic medicines for its treatment.

One person told the News Minute correspondent “There have been many misconceptions about the corono virus. I think it would be better if we are fully prepared. Anyway, people are saying that there are no side effects.”
