Amazon launches pharmacy for online sale of drugs in India, Bengaluru to start service

The American company, which has a large market penetration in the field of online retail marketing, is now starting online sales of medicines in India. The company will first start in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. The company announced this on Thursday, August 13 only.

Service in other parts after Bengaluru

According to reports, the company announced the introduction of ‘Amazon Pharmacy’ in a statement. Under this, the company will also sell prescription-based and over-the-counter medicines, health equipment and Hindustani herbal medicines.

Currently, these drugs will be sold only in Bengaluru. After this, it will be gradually launched in other parts of the country.

Companies already selling drugs online

At present, companies like One MG, Netmeds, MedLife and PharmEG are working in this area, who are distributing medicines to their customers through online platforms.

Due to the constant competition from e-commerce companies like Flipkart and Geomart in the country, Amazon has decided to enter this field so that the company can take advantage of its large customer base. The company had also started 10 new warehouses in India last month.
