Ban on all Indian private news channels in Nepal, MSOs decided
Taking a decision on the ban on Indian private news channels, the foreign news distributor organization Multi-System Operators (MSO) banned all private channels except India’s national news network Doordarshan.

In the midst of the ongoing conflict with India, cable operators in Nepal have banned all Indian private news channels in their country. However, Doordarshan is excluded from this ban.
This step has been taken in view of the huge criticism at the online level by the Indian news channels about the coverage of Nepal, in which a bad image was presented about the Nepali leadership.
The decision to ban Indian private news channels was banned by the foreign news distributor organization Multi-System Operators (MSO) on all private channels except India’s national news network, Doordarshan.
Nepal’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Yubraj Khatiwada said on Thursday evening about the decision that Nepal can seek political and legal measures. At the same time, it can be raised at the diplomatic level against the news of attacking the sovereignty and dignity of Nepal by the Indian media.
Outrage was seen against Indian media reports in Nepal when some news channels were questioned about the character of several Nepali leaders, including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yankee.
However, so far no official order has been issued by the Nepali government in this regard. This decision has come at a time when there is a dispute between India and Nepal over the Nepali map.
Relations between India and Nepal are going tense these days due to border dispute. On 8 May, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a road built from Lipulekh to Dharachula. But Nepal protested, calling Lipulekh its part. On 18 May, he released his new map. In this, 3 areas of India, Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani, gave their share.
