Corona: Another New Zealand achievement, no case of community transmission from 100 days

According to New Zealand health officials, there are still 23 active cases in the country, but these are all those people who were returning from abroad and they were stopped at the country’s border and quarantined.

New Zealand, which has been praised worldwide for effectively dealing with Corona virus infection, has achieved another success in this fight. There has been no new case of community transmission in the country for the last 100 days. The last case of community transmission in the country came on 1 May. However, the health authorities of the country have also warned against any kind of negligence.

According to New Zealand health officials, there are still 23 active cases in the country, but these are all those people who were returning from abroad and they were stopped at the country’s border and quarantined.

However, New Zealand is also conscious about the fact that some countries have come back with cases of the virus and it is being advised to avoid negligence in the country itself. New Zealand Director General of Health Ashley Bloomfield said, “100 days without community transmission is a great achievement, but we all know that we cannot tolerate carelessness on this occasion.”

Since the first case in February in a country with a population of only 50 lakh, only 1,569 cases have been reported so far. Of these, 1,524 patients have been cured, while 22 people have died.

New Zealand has been praised in many countries, from the World Health Organization, for effectively overcoming the Corona crisis in a short time. Due to the steady situation in New Zealand, people are leading a normal life.
