Canada has suspended all passenger flights from India and Pakistan for 30 days on Thursday. Announcing this, Transport Minister Omar Algabra said that Covid-19 more cases are being found among the passengers coming from these countries.

Cargo flights will not be banned

Omar said that this ban would not be applicable to cargo flights to ensure continuous shipment of vaccines, PPE kits and other essentials.

At the same time, Canadian Health Minister Patty Hazdu said that overall, only 1.8 percent of travelers in Canada were found to be Corona virus positive. He said that Indians have a 20 per cent share in recent flights to Canada, but more than 50 per cent of these people have been infected. Similarly, there have been more cases of infection in flights coming from Pakistan. Canada suspended flights for some time after the arrival of new variants of Covid in the UK in December last year.

Many other countries have also imposed restrictions

Like Canada, other countries have also announced such initiatives. The United Arab Emirates on Thursday announced the suspension of all flights from India. Britain has also banned entry of passengers from India this week. At the same time, France has made 10-day quarantine mandatory. A 14-day quarantine is already mandatory for all travelers arriving in Canada.

Canada faces a third wave of infection. In Canada, 9,000 new Covid-19 cases were reported on Thursday, after which the total number of infected people increased to 11,51,276.
