Bank unions are also concerned about the safety of their fellow employees amid the growing cases of Corona across the country. Bank unions have demanded the Ministry of Finance to take measures to protect bank employees. Unions have said that some effective measures can be taken by reducing the working days of banks and allowing branches to work with minimum staff.

UFBU gave memorandum

The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an organization of nine unions, has submitted a memorandum to Debashish Panda, secretary of the Department of Financial Services. This memorandum states that all bank branches and establishments are potential ‘hotspots’ of the spread of infection. In such a situation, there is a need to take some security measures for them. Apart from this, the union has also suggested to reduce working hours or working days. The same thing was done last year.

Work from home urged

UFBU said, ‘We request you that all banks should be instructed to call minimum staff in branches / offices. For the next four to six months, work with one-third of the employees, work from home, ie work from home should be implemented. Staff officers should be called in turn to prevent infection. ‘

Vaccination demand The union said that instead of opening all the branches at many centers, their number should be limited. Banking facilities should be extended to select branches. It will not necessarily need to open all branches and will ensure the safety of bank employees and customers from contagion. The union also demanded that the bankers be vaccinated on a priority basis. Said that this will increase the confidence of bank personnel.
