What is monoclonal antibody?

Monocnol antibody drug is a mixture of two drugs. Hence it is also called antibody cocktail drug. It is prepared by mixing a dose of 600–600 mg of the two drugs kasirivimab and imdevimab. These drugs are very expensive. Recently, Gujarat-based pharmaceutical company Zydus Cadila has developed an antibody cocktail drug called ZRC-3308 and has sought approval for its human trial.

Antibodies are very necessary to fight any disease. Antibodies are proteins, which protect the body from any disease. Monoclonal antibodies are prepared in the lab to fight a particular disease. Kasirivimab and imdevimab are made by the Swiss pharma company Roche, which makes proteins against SARS-Cove-2 responsible for Covid. This drug prevents the spread of coronavirus in the body.

The antibody drug has come from the US. The drug is currently being used at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram and Fortis Escorts Heart Institute and Apollo Hospital in Delhi. Recently, a person has also been cured with this medicine.
