New Delhi: The government has given big relief to the traders in the circumstances arising out of Corona.  The government has extended the date of filing the annual GST return for the financial year 2018-19 by three months.  Now traders will be able to file returns by September, 2020.  According to experts, due to the nationwide lockdown, it was not possible for traders to file returns till the end of June.  In such a situation, the delay of three months from the government will be a very big relief.

Giving another relief, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has decided to extend the validity of the e-way bill issued before March 24, the first phase of nationwide lockdown.  According to the CBIC, all the e-way bills issued before March 24 and expiring between March 20 and April 15 have been extended to May 31.  Earlier, the CBIC extended its validity to 30 April.  Now the validity has been extended to 31 May as the lockdown increases till 17 May.  The CBIC has also allowed traders to file GST Monthly Return (GSTR-3B) through Electronic Verification Code (EVC).
