Flipkart will increase food and grocery storage capacity

Filpkart food and grocery warehousing are increasing capacity quite rapidly. The company is buying small storage houses ranging from 3000 to 4000 square feet. The company is increasing capacity, especially in metro cities. In cities like Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata, the company is trying to increase its storage. Last week, Flipkart launched its hyper local service ‘Flipkart Quick’ in Bengaluru. Under this, customers can book about 2000 such items, which are guaranteed to be delivered in two hours. These include grocery, fresh food items and even smartphones.

Flipkart plans big in Delhi

With the addition of the grocery store, Flipkart is setting up its own separate infrastructure for storage. In Delhi, Flipkart is trying to get more than a dozen such stores from where it can deliver goods in less time. FMCG products can be delivered to these stores in the shortest time from the fulfillment center built outside the city. A spokesperson said that Flipkart plans to continuously invest in strengthening storage capacity. The company is going to expand its hyper local capacity to six major cities. In the coming months, the focus will be on delivery in these cities in 90 minutes. The lockdown caused by Kovid-19 has given a boost to the business of companies such as Amazon, Grofer, Flipkart, Big Basket, who deliver groceries. During the lockdown, the order of these companies has increased manifold.
