Lakhimpur Kheri Case: Ashish Mishra, the son of mighty minister was arrested after prolonged interrogation by a team of police officers headed by DIG Level Officer. If the sources are to be believed, Mr Misha failed to convince the team on at least three points. The Police sources also claimed that Ashish was not replying to their straight questions and trying their level best to either parry the questions or fumble.

New Delhi: On Saturday,  Ashish Mishra was finally arrested after high-voltage drama for 2-3 days. His minister father was denying that he is absconding, while the police kept on clinging notice on his residence in the connection of Lakhimpur violence in which several farmers lost their life.

Importantly, the name of Ashish came in an FIR registered by the farmers. Eight people, that included four farmers and four people of the convoy died and the violence raised its ugly heads. Though Ashish admitted that the SUV that ran over the farmers belonged to him, but denied that he was also sitting inside.

Ashish Mishra, the main accused in the Lakhimpur violence case, has appeared before the crime branch. Let us tell you that the Supreme Court itself had taken cognizance in this case.

Lakhimpur Kheri is about 150 km away from Lucknow, the capital of UP. This district falling in the Terai region is generally quiet. But some areas of this district were feeling the heat of the peasant movement on the border of Delhi, in which Balvirpur and Tikunia are prominent. Balbirpur is related to Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra and his son Ashish Mishra and Tikunia came into the limelight after the October 3 violence in which nine people were killed. Four died after being rammed by a car while five became victims of mob violence. Maybe this case would have been normal. But nothing happened because the jeep was crushed by the farmers and the jeep that crushed it was the Thar of the son of the Minister of State for Home Affairs.

October 3

After the violence on the afternoon of October 3, the politics also heated up. Leaders of all parties traveled overnight for Lakhimpur Kheri. Many people were stopped on the way. But Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi somehow managed to reach Hargaon in Sitapur. But the administration took him into custody after a heated argument. On the night of the 3rd itself, UP CM Yogi Adityanath left the Gorakhpur tour and came to Lucknow and himself got involved in damage control. Top officials of the government were sent to the spot

4 October

After the incident, different types of videos started coming out and the name of the son of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra started surfacing that Ashish Mishra was present in the jeep which crushed the jeep. But it was clarified from Ashish Mishra that he was organizing a riot not in Tikunia but in the memory of his Baba. The atmosphere of Lakhimpur Kheri was heated after Ashish Mishra’s statements that he himself was clean. Under the leadership of Rakesh Tikait, a settlement was reached between the farmers and the government on 45 lakh to the victims’ kin, a government job and the arrest of the accused. But on October 5, a video came after which the atmosphere got heated.

5 October

On October 5, Rahul Gandhi left Delhi for Lakhimpur Kheri and met the families of the victims along with Priyanka Gandhi and targeted Narendra Modi, Yogi Adityanath government. He said that their fight would continue till the resignation of the Minister of State for Home. Meanwhile, on the demand of the farmer family, a dead body’s post-mortem was done again. On October 5 itself, Rakesh Tikait said that if the main accused is not arrested within the stipulated time frame, then the agitation will be intensified.

6 October

On October 6, the Supreme Court took cognizance of the matter and fixed the hearing on 7th October and the leaders of all the parties were allowed to visit Lakhimpur Kheri on the same day. Leaders of different parties ranging from SP, BSP, Shiromani Akali Dal, TMC reached the spot and demanded the arrest of the son of the Minister of State for Home as well as his resignation. However, Minister of State for Home Ashish Mishra Teni kept saying that his son was innocent.

7 October

In the hearing of October 7, the Supreme Court lashed out at the UP government and said that how the investigation is going on in this case, what has the UP Police done so far in this case, submit the status report by October 8. After the rebuke of the Supreme Court, two people were arrested in the evening and a notice was issued against the main accused Ashish Mishra to appear before 10 am on October 8.

8 October

Ashish Mishra did not appear before the crime branch till 10 pm on October 8. When the hearing started in the Supreme Court that day, the court not only taunted the UP government but also scolded it. The court asked whether 302 convicts are told that you come please. 302 accused are generally taken into custody. In addition, the court gave more stringent statements. After the court rebuke, a second notice was pasted on behalf of the crime branch in the afternoon and instructions were given to appear before it by 11 am on October 9.

9 October

On October 9, before 11 o’clock, the main accused Ashish Mishra surrendered covering his face in a white handkerchief. But the question is whether he will be arrested. It is being told that Ashish Mishra has been given a list of questions like where was he on the day of the incident, whose Thar jeep was.
