There is a huge anger in Nepal regarding the Indian media. The Indian media is taking keen interest in the ongoing uprising within Nepal Communist Party over Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Nepal. But the way the whole subject has been covered in the Indian media, there is resentment from the Government of Nepal to the opposition.

A story was run on a Hindi news channel in India about China’s Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yankee and PM KP Sharma Oli. Nepal’s government says that sensational claims were made about a foreign diplomat and Prime Minister Oli, who has no connection with reality.

On Thursday, displeased with this, Nepal government spokesman Yubraj Khatiwada announced that some Indian media have made baseless and shameful allegations on PM Oli.

He said that the government will take legal and political action on the kind of story shown about PM Oli in Indian media on Thursday evening.

He said, “The government has every right to take action against the Indian media who are trying to hurt Nepal’s image, national sovereignty and the dignity of Nepalis.” We have asked to stop such broadcasting. ”

Indian news channel Zee News has made sensational claims about the relationship between Nepal’s PM and Chinese Ambassador Hou Yankee, which has nothing to do with the truth. This report has been broadcast 15 minutes without any truth.

The ruling party, PM Oli’s advisor and the Federation of Nepalese Journalists also expressed concern about this. The Nepalese government said that the Nepalese embassy in New Delhi has raised a strong objection to such unbridled coverage in India’s print and electronic media.

Nepal’s Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali said that the Nepalese Embassy in Delhi has approached the Indian Ministry of External Affairs regarding this.

Nepal’s Ambassador to New Delhi Nilambar Acharya told the Kathmandu Post on the whole matter that some media houses of India are determined to derail the Nepal-India relationship. Acharya said that such report is sad and objectionable.

Surya Thapa, the press advisor to Prime Minister Oli, said that the PM himself has taken notice on this matter.

Thapa said that the cable operators will stop broadcasting the Indian news channel as their responsibility towards the country. Nepal TV Association has confirmed that some Indian news channels have been banned.

According to Article 9 of Nepal’s National Broadcasting Rules 1995, the government can ban such broadcasts which hurts the security, peace, dignity and morality of Nepal. Relations between India and Nepal have been historically low in recent times.

Nepal released its new map on 20 May, showing its territory to Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani. These three areas are still in India but Nepal claims that it is its territory. On Thursday, Indian news channel TV-9 Bharatvarsha interviewed former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Nepal Upendra Yadav.

In this interview, the anchor asked that PM Oli is being accused of going to ‘Honey Trap’. Do you agree with this?

On this, Upendra Yadav said that this cannot be denied and it needs to be seen. However, later Upendra Yadav told Nepali media that his words have been tampered with.

Upendra Yadav said, “He interviewed me for half an hour but showed only seven minutes.” They have shown it in a selective way. I have not said honey trap. How can we do such a thing without any investigation? ”

However, questions were also raised in Nepal about why the Chinese Ambassador is taking such an interest in Nepal’s domestic politics?

This interview of Upendra Yadav came when meetings were being held with the Chinese Ambassador in Nepal with several leaders of the ruling party and Prime Minister Oli.

There was also a protest against the Chinese ambassador in Nepal in front of the embassy on Wednesday.

Chinese Ambassador Hou Yankee had a meeting with former Nepalese Prime Minister Prachanda, PM Oli, Senior Communist Party of Nepal Communist Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nakh Khanal.

The Indian media gave a lot of attention to these meetings and said that Chinese interference in Nepal’s politics is increasing and Chinese ambassadors are trying to save Oli in crisis. Earlier, Oli has alleged that conspiracy is being hatched to remove him from the post of PM in the Indian embassies in New Delhi and Nepal.

The Kathmandu Post has written a strong commentary on the entire matter.

“Ever since Nepal updated its political map, new stories have been created in the Indian media about the relationship between Prime Minister Oli and China. Every day new stories are being created in the Indian media about the relationship between Prime Minister Oli and China. Every day a new propaganda appears in the Indian media. Journalists sitting in Delhi and Mumbai tell the date and time of Oli’s resignation every day. Some people even start demanding resignation. Oli has become a means of collecting TRPs for the Indian media. ”

Nepal writer Kanak Mani Dixit has tweeted on the entire controversy saying, “Some media houses in India are derailing diplomacy and running concocted stories.”

At the same time, former Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal Kamal Thapa tweeted a cartoon of the Times of India While writing, “There are serious differences with Prime Minister Oli on many issues.” These differences also include foreign relations which they are running. But the report being maligned against the PM in the Indian media is not acceptable. It is also not good for Nepal-India relations.
