New Delhi. Under the New Education Policy 2020, now changes will be made in the courses of colleges of Madhya Pradesh. Under the new curriculum, now the first year students of BA will be taught about Mahabharata, Ramcharitmanas, yoga and meditation. According to the new syllabus, ‘Shri Ramcharitmanas Applied Philosophy’ has been kept as an optional subject. In the foundation course of English, the first year students will be taught the preface to C Rajagopalachari’s Mahabharata. State education department officials said that apart from English and Hindi, yoga and meditation have also been introduced as a third foundation course, which includes ‘Om meditation’ and recitation of mantras.

The chapters under Shri Ramcharitmanas will cover topics like ‘Spirituality and Religion in the Basic Sources of Indian Culture’. ‘Four Yugas in the Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas’; ‘Difference between Ramayana and Shri Ramcharitmanas’ And ‘Incarnation of Divine Existence’ will also be taught. As per the revised syllabus, the subject will also teach about personality development and strong character. It will also be told how much obedience Shri Ram was to his father.

Special focus on Bhagwan Ram

According to the English newspaper Hindustan Times, students will also be told how skilled an engineer Lord Ram was. He will also teach about the ‘engineering qualities’ of Lord Rama through the topic ‘Building Ram Setu’ as a unique example of engineering. Apart from Ramcharitmanas, there are 24 optional subjects, which include Urdu songs in Madhya Pradesh and about Urdu language.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Congress MLA PC Sharma said, “We have no problem with the study of Mahabharata, Geeta and Ramcharitmanas, but to develop communal harmony among the students, they should also include Bible, Quran and Guru Granth Sahib in the syllabus. should be included. But they will not do so because it is not in line with their ideology.
