MP: Electricity Department is attaching TV-Fridge-Bike to collect bills from farmers

After giving some relief in the Corona era, now the strictness of the electricity department has come forward to recover electricity bills in Madhya Pradesh. The department has started attachment action for not paying the outstanding electricity bill to the farmers at Betul of Madhya Pradesh. TV-fridges have been confiscated from the homes of many farmers, and motorcycles of many farmers have been attached. This has stirred the farmers.

On Tuesday, the employees of the electricity department carried out a big recovery campaign in 6 villages under the Amla Rural Electricity Distribution Company of Betul.

Under this, daily use items like TVs, motorcycles and fridges have been attached from farmers’ houses in many villages including Budgaon, Brahmanwada, Khedli market, Chupanya. The amount of electricity bills of irrigation pumps was outstanding on these farmers. Attachment campaign is being conducted against 51 such farmers in Amla area.

It is being told that the Central Region Power Distribution Company had issued notices to farmers for recovery of dues, after which the action of attachment of farmers’ goods has been started after the payment of the amount of the bill.

It is alleged that the department has also attached some farmers on whom there was no outstanding amount of electricity bills. The victim farmer Laxman says that twenty-five people from the electricity department came and took my bike while there is no connection in my name.

According to officials, in four sub-centers under the Amla Distribution Center alone, the amount of 20 thousand to 50 thousand is to be recovered from 101 farmers. Of these, more than 50 thousand is left on 51 farmers, for which action is being taken after the instructions of the government for recovery.
