NDA’s Harivansh Narayan re-elected Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman

The election for the post of Deputy Chairman was held on Monday in the Upper House of the Parliament of the country. NDA candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh has been elected as Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha for the second time. He was elected to this post by voice.

After being elected Deputy Chairman, Harivansh Narayan Singh said, “I am grateful to you that you saw a person fit for this important responsibility, who comes from a very normal family living in the village and who ever went to English medium school.” I did not go.

During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the House congratulated Harivansh Narayan on being re-elected Deputy Chairman. He said that the Hari of the House will remain the same for both the party and the opposition.

In front of Harivansh Narayan Singh, RJD leader Manoj Jha was made his candidate from the opposition.

However, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced that Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MPs would support the NDA candidate for the post of Deputy Chairman in Rajya Sabha. While the BJD is not a part of the NDA.

Harivansh Narayan Singh’s previous term as Deputy Chairman ended on 9 April.

Who is Harivansh Narayan

Harivansh, a candidate of the ruling NDA alliance, is a Rajya Sabha member from JDU. JDU sent him to the Rajya Sabha from Bihar in 2014.

Born on 30 June 1956 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, Harivansh was selected in the Times of India when he was doing a diploma in journalism from Banaras Hindu University. He was a sub-editor in the weekly magazine ‘Dharmayuga’. But later also worked in the bank for a few days, then returned to journalism and until 1989 was the assistant editor of ‘Anand Bazaar Patrika’ weekly magazine ‘Sunday’.

After this, he has been the editor-in-chief of Prabhat Khabar for more than 25 years.

Prior to joining the Rajya Sabha, he was also Additional Information Advisor (1990-91) of former Prime Minister Chandrasekhar.

Harivansh, 62, has been the editor of Prabhat Khabar, a well-known newspaper in Bihar and Jharkhand.

The special thing is that he has also been very close to former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar. Prime Minister Modi said in the Rajya Sabha about Harivansh, “Harivanshji was close to former Prime Minister Chandrasekhar and he was already aware of Chandrasekhar’s resignation, but he did not leak this news for the popularity of the newspaper.”
