The Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued draft rules to ensure ease of use of drones in India on the basis of ‘trust, self-certification and non-interference monitoring’.

That Easy Rules

According to a statement issued by the ministry, earlier 25 forms were filled for permission to fly drones in the country, which has been reduced to 6. The number of forms to be filled for flying drones has been reduced to 6 in the draft ‘Drone Rules, 2021’ from the 25 forms specified in the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Rules, 2021, the statement said. Has been done.

Drone flying fees will also be reduced

The UAS Rules, 2021 came into force on March 12 this year. The Drone Rules, 2021, once notified, will replace the UAS Rules, 2021. The fee has been reduced to nominal in the draft rules and will no longer be related to the size of the drone, the statement said.

According to the new rules, now many approvals will not have to be taken to fly the drone. This requirement has been abolished. Let us tell you that till now, to fly a drone anywhere in the country, certificate of conformity, certificate of maintenance, import clearance, approval of existing drones, operator permit, authorization from R&D organization and student remote pilot license etc. were required.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the draft rules reflect a ‘complete change’ from the UAS Rules, 2021. Scindia tweeted, ‘Drones are bringing about the next big technological revolution around the world with low cost, less resources and less time to operate. It is our responsibility to keep up with this new wave and help increase its usage, especially amongst our Startups.

Drones are not allowed here

The draft rules state that permission will not be required for flying up to 400 feet in the green zone and 200 feet in the area between 8 and 12 km of the airport.

They don’t need a pilot’s license

The draft rules have been made on the basis of trust, self-certification and non-intrusive monitoring, the ministry said, adding that micro drones (for non-commercial use), nano drones and R&D (research and development) No pilot license will be required for organizations.

Drone corridors to be built

As per the draft rules, drone corridors will be developed for cargo delivery and a council will be set up to facilitate a drone-friendly regulatory regime in the country. People can give their opinion on these rules till August 5. The draft rules also state that there will be no restriction on drone operations by foreign-owned companies registered in India.
