The talks were to begin in March after the first US-Taliban security agreement in February. But disagreements over the exchange of a controversial prisoner and continuing violence in Afghanistan hindered the next stages of this dialogue.

Why is negotiation important for India?
India is helping Afghanistan to rise again, but some experts say that “the strengthening of the Taliban in Afghanistan may be a matter of concern for India”.
