Iran has separated India from the Chabahar rail project. Iran has attributed the delay in getting funds from India.

Iran has taken this step at a time when tensions between India and China have increased and recently there has been an agreement between China and Iran for a strategic investment of four hundred billion dollars.

Four years ago there was an agreement between Iran and India to lay a rail line from Chabahar to Zahedan on the Afghanistan border. Now Iran has decided to complete this project on its own and has started work on it.

Iran says that there has been a delay in getting funds for the project from India, due to which it is starting work on its own.

The work of laying this 628 kilometer long rail route has started last week. Iran’s Transport and Urban Development Minister Mohammad Islami has inaugurated it. This rail line is going to cross the border to Zaranj in Afghanistan.

Iranian officials have said that this entire project will be completed by March 2022. For this, Iran’s National Development Fund will now be used.

Four years ago, when the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi visited Iran, there was an agreement on this rail project. On behalf of India, Indian Railways Construction Ltd. was to be involved in the construction of this rail track. This was an agreement between India and Afghanistan and Iran.
