Team India’s star batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been divorced from wife Ayesha Mukherjee. Ayesha Mukherjee herself gave this information through an Instagram post. Dhawan and Ayesha got married in the year 2012 and in 2014, both of them became parents to a son.
Ayesha wrote in her emotional post, ‘I used to understand that divorce is a dirty word, until I got divorced twice.’
It’s funny how words can have so many powerful meanings and connections. I experienced it for the first time as a divorcee. The first time I went through a divorce, I was very scared. I felt as if I had failed and I was doing something wrong at that time.
‘I felt like I had let everyone down, even I felt selfish. I felt that I was disappointing my parents, I felt that I was disappointing my children and even to some extent I felt as if I was disappointing God. Divorce was such a dirty word.
Talking about the game, Dhawan was last seen captaining Team India on the Sri Lanka tour in July. Dhawan has been leading Team India’s batting prowess for almost a decade. Currently, Shikhar Dhawan is eyeing a place in India’s T20 World Cup squad, which is to be announced on Wednesday. With Rohit Sharma selected, it could be a fight for the opening slot between Dhawan and KL Rahul. But keeping in mind the COVID-19 protocol, BCCI can announce a bigger squad, which is likely to get Dhawan a place.
