She is brutally frank, she is easy to approach, versatile to say the least. Simply put, she is endowed with all those qualities, people expect from a person.

We are talking about Nisha Jha, wife of one of the most renowned bureaucrats of Bihar, Late Madan Mohan Jha. Mr Jha was 1977 batch IAS and was known for his vision and comprehensive knowledge of the education system. He had helped the state to chalk out a plan for universal secondary education taking the help of private players in opening up schools for children.

She recently talked with our representative. Here is the excerpt of telephonic conversation.

Hyzape: Ma’am, thanks for sparing your time for us.

Nisha Jha: My Pleasure.

Hyzape: If I can talk about the beginning of your life, especially after marriage, you became the wife of an IAS and being the wife of an IAS is like a heavy garland, which comes with heavy responsibility. So, how did you tackle this?

Nisha Jha:(laughs) First of all, my husband was not an IAS, when he got married. He was an IPS then. We got married in the month of February, 1977 and he became an IAS in June that year. But, yes, it was not a cakewalk. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law were in school then, and I became their guardian apparent after I became the member of that family. I tried my level best, not to disturb my husband, unless it is very essential.

Hyzape: I have come to know that you are very busy person, you are shouldering so much responsibilities. Will you please tell me about your roles and responsibilities?

Nisha Jha: After I lost my husband in the year 2007, I fell into a state of trauma. It seemed that there is nothing to do, nowhere to reach, no responsibility towards my society, nothing. Life came in a standstill. But, my loved ones kept on consoling me and slowly and slowly, I too started recollecting myself.

Some people from political arena approached me with the offer of ticket for contesting election, but for so many cogent reasons, I declined the offer with humility.

In the year 2008, I floated an NGO Shikshans. This NGO exclusively work in education sector. I have not taken even a single penny for any Govt. or Private organizations. I run it with my own pension. I have high hopes and ambitions with my NGO and I have unflinching faith that it will do substantially in education sector.
