The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has described the highly contagious delta variant of the first coronavirus detected in India as “worrisome”. The CDC said in a statement, “The virus types found in the US are B.1.1.7 (alpha), B.1.351 (beta), P.1 (gamma), B.1.427 (epsilon), B.1.429. (epsilon) and B.1.617.2 (delta) are of concern. There is no such form in America so far which has a huge impact. Significantly, any form of the virus is said to be worrisome when scientists believe that it is more contagious and can make you seriously ill. Tests, treatments, and vaccines that identify the worrisome nature may also be less effective against it. Earlier, the CDC had said about the delta form that more research is needed about it.

The World Health Organization (WHO) had described the delta as a worrying form on May 10. According to the CDC’s estimate, as of June 5, the delta was the reason behind 9.9 percent of the cases of infection in the US. According to ‘Outbreak.info’, a website that monitors the types of viruses, by June 13, the cases of delta form were 10.3 percent. A CNN report warned that within a month, the Delta pattern could become the most dominant form in the US.

Last week US President Joe Biden and his chief adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci warned that the delta form of the novel coronavirus is highly contagious, affecting 12 to 20-year-olds in the UK and is most dominant there. The nature is being proved. The cases of corona virus have been decreasing in the US for the last few months, but in view of the slow pace of vaccination, concerns are being raised that the delta form may again wreak havoc here.
