Due to the situation arising out of the defeat of a key candidate of his party in the Senate elections, he has decided to get a confidence vote. This confidence vote will be held on Saturday, March 6.

In fact, the Imran Khan government’s Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh lost in the Senate elections to former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in the tightly contested seat of Islamabad.

After this, Imran Khan addressed the country and said that some MPs of his Tehreek-e-Insaf party had been persuaded by the opposition to vote for former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Geelani by bribing and due to this the defeat of his Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh happened.

Members of the lower house of parliament, members of the National Assembly and four provincial assemblies vote in Senate elections. This voting took place on Wednesday. After this defeat, questions began to arise whether Imran Khan had a majority in the House or not? The Senate is the upper house of the Parliament. Gilani received 169 votes in this election, while Hafeez Sheikh received 164 votes.

In his address of about half an hour, Imran Khan attacked the opposition parties fiercely. He questioned his intentions.

He alleged that a bribe of crores of rupees was offered to his party members. At the same time, he claimed that some people of his party also sold themselves.

Although there has been some improvement in the position of Imran Khan’s party in the 100-member Senate, the defeat of Sheikh is a drastic blow for the government and his party.

Imran Khan said, “I am asking for a vote of confidence on Saturday. I will go to the National Assembly and ask that you decide. It will be an open vote and I will ask all the members to exercise their democratic right and you can say that you are not with Imran Khan. I would respect that. And if you win, I will sit in the opposition. “

He said, “If I lose power, it will not affect me”

On the current political crisis in Pakistan, Haroon Rashid, managing editor of Independent Urdu, Islamabad, says, “Imran Khan’s image is like that of an angry old man. The way he has made the allegations reflects his helplessness that being in government and Even as PM, he has not been able to stop these rigging. He has made allegations of bribery and expressed doubt that some members of his own party have not voted for him. This has resulted in his defeat. “

Haroon says that Imran Khan has been carrying out strong attacks on the opposition before, but for the first time he has also accused the Election Commission that all this has been rigged because of him. He has said that the Election Commission should have stopped the misuse of votes.

However, there are reports that the Election Commission is meeting today. After this, the Election Commission can present its side in response to the Prime Minister’s allegations.

There is not much danger of PM losing confidence vote

One reason behind the vote of confidence could be that the Pakistani PM wants to show himself as morally strong.

Aaron says, “I don’t think the Prime Minister is at any greater risk in the trust vote. They are going for a vote of confidence on a moral basis. There is no big political crisis for them right now. I think they can easily go into it Will win. “

But, the point to be seen is how many votes they get.

Aaron believes that Imran Khan can emerge more strong after this crisis. They are doing this to take a morally strong stand.

Opposition toughened attack

In the last few days, opposition parties of Pakistan have intensified the attacks on the government and Imran Khan.

Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Thursday after PTI’s Abdul Hafeez Sheikh was defeated in the Senate elections that no one can save this government.

Bilawal also said that the PM’s own colleagues have rejected him in the Senate elections. He has given a bad and illegal agreement to Imran Khan’s government.

Bilawal accused PM Imran Khan, “He is a coward and is afraid of elections”.

On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) vice-president Maryam Nawaz has also launched a fierce attack on Imran Khan in the last few days.

On Monday, Mariam Nawaz attacked Imran Khan and said, “Why are you afraid of the power of votes?”

However, the PM has said in his address that the opposition wants to blackmail him.

He said, “The Opposition wanted to blackmail me through a vote of confidence on my head so that I give them the NRO. I will not give this concession to those who have looted this country.”

NRO stands for National Reconciliation Order under which leaders living in exile abroad were relieved to return to the country. All the charges against such leaders under the NRO were dropped.

However, Aaron says that the PM may claim whatever, but in reality, he is not able to prove these allegations. He says, “In most cases of corruption, the charges are weak. In such a situation, the government should focus on making more strong cases.”
