Former Deputy Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Girish Chandra Murmu has been declared the new Comptroller and Auditor General of India. A notice in this regard was issued on Thursday.

Girish Chandra Murmu was made the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on 31 October, after Article 370 was neutralized last year.

60-year-old former IAS officer Girish Chandra Murmu was made the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir after Governor Satyapal Malik was sent to Goa on October 29 last year.

Murmu of Gujarat cadre has been the Chief Secretary of the state during Narendra Modi as Chief Minister.
