Taliban to become the newest entrant of SAARC?

After the occupation of Taliban in Afghanistan, Pakistan is making every effort to get it international recognition. But this time Pakistan has got a big setback. In fact, on the sidelines of the 76th United Nations General Assembly session in New York, the meeting of foreign ministers of ‘SAARC’ countries on Saturday has been cancelled. Because Pakistan was adamant on the insistence of including the representative of Taliban in this meeting. After this, due to deep differences, this meeting to be held in New York on 25 September had to be canceled.

The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting has traditionally been held on the sidelines of the annual United Nations General Assembly session. According to sources, this meeting to be held on September 25 has been cancelled.

According to reliable sources, Pakistan has raised the demand for representation of Taliban in the meeting. India and many other member countries of SAARC strongly objected to this. In such a situation, this meeting was canceled after no consensus could be reached. According to reports, most of the countries had agreed that the chair of Afghanistan should be kept vacant during the meeting, but Pakistan remained adamant, after which the meeting itself was canceled. Let us tell you that Nepal was to preside over this meeting of SAARC. This meeting is held annually only during the United Nations General Assembly.
