The Commission has sent this format to the major political parties in Bihar and has sought suggestions and advice from them. In this, the rules have been put in place from arranging masks to arranging PPE kits and booths.

In the midst of the crisis of corona infection, the Election Commission is brainstorming to conduct the Bihar Assembly elections on time. In such a situation, after extensive deliberations, the Election Commission has prepared a draft of guidelines regarding the manner of campaigning in Bihar keeping in mind the Corona crisis. The Commission has sent this draft to the major political parties in Bihar and has sought suggestions and advice from them.

Bihar is facing double challenges these days. On the one hand, Bihar is becoming a new hotspot due to the increasing dangers of Corona infection, on the other hand floods have devastated and destroyed millions of lives. In such a situation, conducting Bihar elections in front of the Election Commission is a big challenge. Regarding this, Election Commission Secretary NT Bhutia has instructed all political parties to give suggestions and advice by July 31 through a letter issued on Friday so that the Election Commission can issue guidelines on the basis of that.

1. Wearing masks – All people must wear masks during publicity or meeting of big events in elections.

2. Social distancing – Social distancing prescribed in public places has to be followed.

3. Prohibition on rallies – A large crowd gathering during election campaign will be stopped. Large public ceremonies including religious places will be completely banned.

4. Screening- Thermal screening and sanitization should be arranged during election public meetings and meetings.

5. Polling Booths – The number of voters at the booths will have to be reduced so that the crowd of more people cannot gather at the booths during voting.

6. PPE Kit – Election Commission for Bihar Elections including putting a cap on the number of voters in each booth of the state, providing election officials with PPE kits and using tooth pick / gloves to press buttons on EVM machine Is considering thermal screening.

Sources in the Election Commission have told India Today that preparations are on for the Bihar election. Discussions are on to increase the number of booths during elections, including arrangements regarding PPE kits and an increase in manpower for elections. However, in view of the increasing danger of corona infection in Bihar, many political parties are not in favor of holding elections. They want the election to be postponed for the moment. Sources have said that the final decision regarding Bihar elections can be taken soon and the Election Commission is making every effort to hold elections.

The Election Commission said that there is a crisis of corona in the whole country. Along with this, a number of guidelines related to preventing and protecting the corona infection were issued under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. Instructions related to this have also been issued by the state government. Following these instructions, some rules have been made for the election.
