Every year Russia celebrates the anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in the Second World War. On this day a grand military parade is organized at the famous Red Square of the capital Moscow in which Russia demonstrates its military power.

This time Russia is organizing the 75th Victory Parade on Wednesday, but this time there is a big change in the Victory Parade.

Officially, this special parade is organized on the 9th of May, but due to Corona epidemic this year, it was decided to organize it after two months.

At the beginning of the year, President Vladimir Putin said that this year’s Victory Day parade would be special but Russia imposed a lockdown from March to prevent the spread of the Karana virus.

The government canceled the parade. Also, the inauguration ceremony of Orthodox Cathedral dedicated to the Russian Army was also postponed.

The parade was canceled, but on this day, footage of last year’s parade was played on television. In a small ceremony in President Putin, flowers were flown to the Eternal Flame War Memorial in memory of those who participated in the war, and 75 aircraft flew across the skies of Moscow, remembering 75 years.

In the week of May 8, about 10,000 cases of corona infection were reported daily in Russia for a few consecutive days.

Importance of Victory Parade?

On 22 June 1945, the famous leader of Soviet Russia, Joseph Stalin, issued an order that a special army parade would be organized in Moscow’s Red Square to win over the German Nazi army.

Earlier this parade was held once in a few years, but from 1995 it was celebrated every year.

This is the second time since 1945 when this parade is being organized on any day other than May.

In fact, on 7 May 1945, the Nazis laid down their arms in front of the Allied army and surrendered unconditionally.

The terms of the surrender were signed at 22.43 pm on 8 May near Berlin. The time in Russia at the time of signing was 0.43 pm on 9 May.

For this reason, every year since 1945, many countries of Europe celebrate their Victory Day on 8 May, while Russia decided to organize the Victory Day Parade on 9 May.

Stalin decided to celebrate Victory Day on 9 May before the surrender was signed.

Orthodox Cathedral

The Orthodox Cathedral dedicated to the Army has been built in 17 months and has invested about 820 million dollars. For this, financial help was taken from the Ministry of Defense, big companies and people in the form of donations.

To make this cathedral a symbol of the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory, many symbolic considerations have been taken into it.

For example, the cathedral’s bell tower is 75 meters high, its main dome is 19.45 meters wide and its smaller dome is 14.18 meters high. 75 years ago, World War II ended in 1945 and during this period Soviet Russia faced the German Nazi army for 1418 days.

Indian Army will join the Victory Parade

India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is also attending the Victory Parade of Russia. Along with this, a squad of 75 members of India’s water, land and air forces are also participating in this parade.
