ICC Postpones T20 WC Cup till 10 June; IPL will have to wait

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has not been able to take any decision on the T20 World Cup scheduled in October-November this year. This World Cup is to be played in Australia.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has not been able to take any decision on the T20 World Cup scheduled in October-November this year. The decision on the current T20 World Cup was deferred till June 10 in the ICC Board’s meeting held through teleconference on Thursday. The World Cup is scheduled to be held from October 18 to November 15.

In the meeting held on the future of the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia this year, it was said that the member boards will monitor the corona virus infection in their respective countries in the coming days. All the agenda included in the ICC Board meeting has been deferred till 10 June.

The ICC said after the board’s teleconference, “The board urges the ICC management to continue to discuss various emergency options with stakeholders in view of the ever-changing public health situation due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.”

It was believed that in the circumstances caused by the Kovid-19 pandemic, the way to organize the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be opened if the T20 World Cup is postponed. That is, BCCI will use this October-November window for IPL. Now we will have to wait more to decide the strategy of organizing the IPL.

Earlier there was speculation that after this meeting it is possible to announce the postponement of T20 World Cup in Australia by 2022.
