Kevin Roberts leaves post, Hawkley becomes Interim CEO of Cricket Australia

Kevin Roberts resigned from his post and now Nick Hockley has been appointed interim CEO. The 47-year-old Roberts contract was up until next year.

Cricket Australia (CA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kevin Roberts resigned from his post on Tuesday and now Nick Hockley has been appointed as interim CEO. Hockley is currently the chief executive of the ICC T20 World Cup. Apart from this, she also held the responsibility of Women’s World Cup in the beginning of this year.

Roberts said in a statement, ‘It is a matter of pride for me to lead this game as the CEO of Cricket Australia. Our staff and players are fantastic people, who have done a lot for this game. I am proud of what we achieved together. I want to thank the volunteers in the communities across the country, who gave their blood and sweat to this game.

Roberts was severely criticized for sending 80 per cent of his employees on long leave to his headquarters in April amid the Kovid-19 epidemic.

Roberts, CA chairman Eil Eding, thanked Roberts. He said, ‘Kevin has done his job well. He always kept the game paramount. We wish him all the best for the future.

The 47-year-old Roberts contract was up until next year. He took over as CEO of CA after James Sutherland and prior to that he was Chief Operating Officer in CA itself.
