Sri Lanka’s record against Bangladesh is excellent and they have won 16 out of 20 matches. Bangladesh won the only win against Sri Lanka in 2017.
If the Sri Lankan team lands on the home ground for the two-match Test cricket series against Bangladesh today, then they will have to try to win in this format after a long time. Sri Lanka had achieved the last success in the longest format of the game in January 2020 and coach Mickey Arthur would like his team to finish this invention with the first Test match of the series.
The Sri Lankan team played six Test matches after January 2020 and despite being in a better position in most matches, the team failed to register a win. After their 2–0 defeat on the tour of South Africa, they suffered a similar defeat in the previous series against England at home. After this, both teams of the team were drawing on the West Indies tour. Team coach Arthur said, “In the past few times we have lost many chances of victory. In the moments of pressure we need to show our better game as well as maintain control over the opposing team by constantly pressuring them during the match Will happen.”
Bangladesh team’s form is bad
Bangladesh team has struggled in recent times. They suffered a defeat in the home series against the West Indies, while the team lost all six limited-overs matches on the tour of New Zealand. The team will not get the services of top players like all-rounder Shakib Al-Hasan and fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, who are currently participating in the Indian Premier League. Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque said that Sri Lanka’s team is very strong in the home ground, winning against them will be a big challenge for us. We have to deal with this challenge for best results.
