Cases of communal violence in Bangladesh have been increasing continuously for the past few days. The violence that started on October 13 on the main festival of Hindus Durga Puja is not taking its name to stop. After the attack on Durga Puja pandals in Comilla, Bangladesh, a case of setting fire to the houses of more than 65 Hindus in Peerganj, upazila of Rangpur has come to light on Sunday. In this, 20 houses have been completely burnt down.
According to the report of Bangladesh’s media house Dhaka Tribune, this incident took place in Jaipoli of Majhipara in Ramnathpur Union, a village in Peerganj. According to the report some fundamentalists burnt 20 houses of Hindus. However, according to the president of the local union council, the miscreants have set 65 houses on fire.
According to the police, this matter is also related to social media posts. Tension had arisen only after an objectionable post by a Hindu man on Facebook. The police reached the spot and provided security to this young man and secured his house, but the miscreants set fire to the nearby houses in the same location.
According to Dhaka Tribune president Mohd Saadkul Islam, the miscreants belonged to the local unit of the Jamaat-e-Islami and the student wing Islamic student camp.
