The coming month i.e. October will be full of festivals and celebrations all over India. Many private and public sector banks will remain closed next month due to additional bank holidays. Banks will remain closed for a total of 21 days in the month of October including the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays in October. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has some guidelines to keep banks closed on all public holidays with some regional holidays depending on the particular state. Explain that the state governments of the respective states fix regional holidays.
Bank holidays have been divided by RBI into three categories – holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and real-time gross settlement holidays and Bank of Accounts. According to this, there are a total of 21 bank holidays in the month of October and the first holiday starts from Gandhi Jayanti, which falls on 2 October 2021. Other big holidays are Durga Puja and Dussehra on October 15, which apply to all banks.
