Kathmandu: Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the corona virus infection from India is “more deadly” than the infection from China and Italy. He also blamed those who entered India illegally for increasing the cases of Kovid-19 in the country. Corona virus cases in Nepal increased to 427 on Wednesday.

Oli said in Parliament on Tuesday about the Kovid-19 epidemic that due to the arrival of people from outside(India), it has become very difficult for Nepal to stop the infection of this virus. He said, “Many patients of Corona virus have entered Nepal. This virus came from outside, we did not have it here. We could not stop the infiltration of people from across the border. “

He said that the biggest challenge facing the country today is the increasing cases of corona virus. He attributed the rise in cases of corona virus infection to nationwide lockdown breakers, and especially those entering Nepal from India. He said, “Corona virus infection coming from India is deadlier than China and Italy.”

The Kathmandu Post quoted Oli as saying, “Those coming from India illegally are spreading this virus in the country.” Some local representatives and party leaders are responsible for bringing people from India without proper investigation. “

Border dispute

Oli’s remarks come amidst a border dispute between Nepal and India after India built a major road connecting Lipulekh Pass to Dharchula in Uttarakhand. He said that the Nepal government has been taking precautionary measures for a long time to stop the spread of the virus. He said, “The government’s main priority is to free the country from the corona virus.”

Despite the deployment of security personnel at all major entry points along the Nepal-India border to prevent cross-border movement of people between lockdowns in the country, there are reports of hundreds of people entering the country daily from various border points.

The Health Ministry of Nepal said that with 25 new cases of corona virus coming to the country, the total cases increased to 427 on Wednesday. So far two people have died in the country.

The Prime Minister of Nepal on Tuesday emphasized that Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura belong to Nepal. He had committed to “withdraw” these regions from political and diplomatic efforts from India. Meanwhile, under his chairmanship, his cabinet approved a new political map showing Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura as areas of Nepal.

The Prime Minister of Nepal said in Parliament that these areas belong to Nepal “but India has deputed its army there”. He said, “After the deployment of army by India, the Nepalis are not allowed to go there.”

The Lipulekh Pass is a remote western location near Kalapani, the disputed border between Nepal and India. Both India and Nepal call Kalapani an integral part of their border. India calls it part of Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand and Nepal calls it part of Dharchula district.
