Four-time Gujarat CM Madhav Singh Solanki dies, PM Modi expresses grief

Senior Congress leader Madhav Singh Solanki, who was the four-time chief minister of Gujarat, has passed away. He was 94 years old. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over his death and has tweeted that he will always be remembered for social service. The PM has written that he played an important role in the politics of Gujarat for decades. He will be remembered for his significant contribution to society. PM has spoken to Madhav Singh Solanki’s son Bharat Solanki on this sad occasion and expressed his condolences.

Madhav Singh Solanki was born on 30 July 1927. Solanki was a strong leader of the Congress. Apart from being the Chief Minister in the state, he also served in the center. He had been the foreign minister in the Narasimha Rao government. He was a great leader in Gujarat who practiced caste equations. In the 1980s, he suggested the KHAM formula for applying caste equations.
