Mysterious Death of Nirbhaya of Mumbai
Considered the safest for women, a woman who was raped after being assaulted in Mumbai has died in the hospital after about 30 hours. After the rape, the accused had severely attacked the woman’s private part with a rod. The victim woman was undergoing treatment at Rajawadi Hospital in Mumbai. A CCTV footage of this incident has also surfaced, on the basis of which the accused has been arrested by the police.
According to the CCTV footage, the incident took place between 2.30 pm and 3 pm on Thursday. It is seen in this that the accused badly injures the woman with a rod after the rape. He then escapes by throwing him in a pick-up van in a deplorable condition. Although the footage is not very clear due to the dark night, but the movement of the accused is clearly visible.
Police have arrested accused Mohan Chauhan (45). He had found the woman while walking on the side of the road. After the rape, he wanted to kill her.
The accused confessed his crime
CPI Balwant Jadhav of Sakinaka Police Station says that this CCTV footage will prove to be important evidence in getting the accused Chauhan punished. After apprehending the accused, he was interrogated in custody and when he was shown the video footage, he confessed his crime. Taking cognizance in this matter, the National Commission for Women has written a letter to the DGP of Maharashtra Government asking for strict action in the matter.
In this pickup van, the victim was found in a serious condition
Investigation has revealed that the accused woman was found walking on the roadside. After the rape, he wanted to kill the woman, so he attacked the private part with a rod. After 15 minutes someone passing by saw the woman in a state of unconsciousness covered in blood and called the Sakinaka police station and informed about it.
This blurry picture of the incident was captured in the CCTV camera installed on the spot. Based on this, the accused has been arrested by the police.
The victim lived in Mumbai with her two daughters.
Investigation has revealed that the victim has two daughters aged 13 and 16 and the woman used to do private jobs to support her family. It has been learned about the accused that he is addicted to drugs and he was intoxicated even during the crime.
The woman breathed her last at Rajawadi Hospital in Mumbai. Doctors had tried to save his life by operating him several times.
Home Minister said – strict action will be taken against the wrongdoer
Regarding this incident, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil said that this case is very unfortunate and heart-wrenching. Accused has been arrested. We will try our best that the accused gets the harshest punishment and such an example should be set in the society that anyone should think 10 times before committing such a crime. The police was instructed yesterday itself that a thorough investigation should be done in this whole matter. If there is any other accused, then keep checking it and giving updates continuously. I myself am keeping my eye on the investigation of this matter. After this incident, Bhumata Brigade chief Trupti Desai has said that the manner in which the woman was raped in Mumbai’s Sakinaka complex is a result of demonic tendencies. This is a brutal incident.
