The President of Suriname in South America, Chandrika Prasad Santokhi, can be the chief guest at the Republic Day Parade of India on 26 January. According to media reports, sources attached to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) have confirmed this.
The first Prime Minister of Britain was invited
Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was invited to participate in the Republic Day Parade, which was also accepted by Boris. But due to the rapid spread of Corona in Britain, he cancelled his tour of India. Only after this, the Government of India sent an invitation to the President of Suriname to be the Chief Guest in the parade on 26 January, which he accepted with pleasure.
‘No more visas needed to go to Suriname’
Suriname President Chandrika Prasad Santokhi had earlier also attended Pravasi Bharatiya Divas on Saturday. In this program organized through digital medium, he said, ‘We are ready to take the first step in this direction by abolishing visa permits for travellers coming to India from Suriname.’ He said that there is also scope to increase cooperation between the two countries in the field of trade and tourism.
This time the 26 January parade will be special
It is worth noting that the Republic Day parade to be held on 26 January in the country’s capital Delhi (Delhi) will be special this time. This time, along with the Black Cat commandos of the National Security Guard (NSG), the tableau of the country’s largest paramilitary force CRPF will also be seen. According to media reports, the marching and band squads of Delhi Police and Indo-Tibetan Border Police will be seen in the parade held on 26 January this time due to the epidemic, as well as the camel riding squad of the Border Security Force.
