The incidence of stress and depression in professional footballers is increasing due to the continued lockdown worldwide due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. And the reason behind this is that they have been away from the field for a long time. FIFPro, a global players’ association, gave this information in a report released on Monday. It surveyed 1602 footballers from 16 countries such as England, France, Scotland, Australia and USA. There were 468 women players in it.

It was found that 13 percent of the men and 22 percent of the women players in showed symptoms of depression. Signs of anxiety were also found in one of the five female and male players.

Vincent G, a former French player and Chief Medical Officer of FIFPro, said, “There are a lot of young women and men in football who are struggling with social isolation because their work has stopped and the future is uncertain.” Games are closed throughout. In almost all countries, the footballer is locked in their homes.

After this foreign survey, now a big question has arisen that how is the mood of millions of cricketers and other players playing in India at the moment. Certainly, this survey cannot be called a good sign for them at all.

Definitely the picture will be clear when a company will survey the mood of Indian players. Till then, keep your fingers crossed.
