Amidst the havoc of Corona, the Election Commission has banned road shows, vehicle rallies in West Bengal with immediate effect. The commission has also fixed the number of people for rallies.

The Election Commission has banned the roadshow in West Bengal between the outcry from Corona. The Election Commission said that more than 500 people will no longer be able to attend public meetings in West Bengal. Earlier today, the Calcutta High Court had expressed its displeasure with the Election Commission over the Corona Protocol.

The bench headed by Chief Justice TBN Radhakrishnan, while hearing three PILs, said that it is not enough to issue circulars and hold meetings on Covid security.

Tomorrow’s visit of PM Modi canceled

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted today and said that he has canceled his proposed West Bengal tour on Friday. He tweeted that I will preside over a high level meeting tomorrow for the current status of Covid-19. Because of this, I will not be able to go to West Bengal. PM Modi was scheduled to address four rallies yesterday.

Today’s cases in Bengal

In West Bengal today, 11,948 new cases of corona were confirmed and 56 patients lost their lives… This is the highest number of cases to come in a day.

Voting is going on in eight phases for the assembly elections in West Bengal. Voting of these six phases has been done. Today, votes were cast in 43 seats for the sixth phase.

Voting will be held on April 26 for 36 seats in five districts under seventh phase and April 29 on 35 seats in four districts under eighth phase. The votes will be counted on May 2.

On March 27 on 30 assembly seats of five districts under the first phase in the state, on April 1 on 30 assembly seats in four districts under the second phase, on April 3 in 31 assembly seats under the third phase, five districts under the fourth phase Votes were cast on 44 seats of the state on 10 April and under the fifth phase on 45 seats in six districts on 17 April.
