Mana Patel, first woman swimmer to qualify for Tokyo Olympics

Today, Indian women are making their name in almost all fields, Mana Patel being one of them. Ahmedabad-based backstroke swimmer Mana has become the first woman and only the third Indian swimmer to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. The Swimming Federation of India (SFI) said that Mana has qualified for the Olympics under the university quota.

Her passion for swimming started when she was only seven years old and she is still working to hone her skill. The 21-year-old swimmer has talent and passion, with the help of which she has achieved so much at a young age. She has won gold medals in the 50m backstroke and 200m backstroke at the National Games. He broke the national record and won the gold medal in the 100m backstroke at the 60th National School Games (2015).

In the same year, Mana was selected for the Olympic Gold Quest, which involved a swimmer for the first time. After that in the year 2018, Mana won three gold medals at the 72nd Senior National Aquatic Championships.

Supporting him in the Tokyo Olympics are Srihari Nataraja and Sajan Prakash, who have achieved automatic qualification (A time) for the Olympics. Sajan Prakash became the first Indian swimmer to qualify for the upcoming Olympics, completing the men’s 200m butterfly swim in 1:56:38, while the qualification cut-off was set at 1:56:48. Srihari Natraj became the second Indian swimmer to qualify for the showpiece event. The qualification time (A time) for the 100m backstroke event was set at 53.85 seconds.
