The Postal Department of the Government of India and the Horticulture Department of the Government of Bihar have joined hands to supply ‘Shahi Litchi’ and ‘Jardalu Mango’ to the doors of the people. Bihar Postal Circle has tied up with the Horticulture Department of the Government of Bihar for logistics of Shahi Litchi from Muzaffarpur and Jardalu mango from Bhagalpur and to make it accessible to the common people.

Postal Department will take litchi and mango to market

Due to the lockdown caused by Corona virus, the producers of litchi and mangoes are finding it difficult to reach the market for selling fruits. In order to provide products to the people and to provide direct market to farmers without selling their fruits, the Horticulture Department of Bihar Government and Postal Department of Government of India have joined hands for this initiative.

The ‘Shahi Litchi’ of Muzaffarpur (Bihar) and ‘Jardalu Mango’ of Bhagalpur (Bihar) are famous all over the world due to their unique taste and demand everywhere. People can order online through the website “horticulture.bihar.gov.in”.

At least two kilos of litchi have to be ordered

Initially this facility will be available to the people of Muzaffarpur and Patna for ‘Shahi Litchi’ and to the people of Patna and Bhagalpur for ‘Jardalu Mango’. Booking of litchi will have to be booked for at least 2 kg and mango for at least five kg.

4400 kg litchi booked

With the introduction of this facility for online booking and delivery of products to people’s homes, farmers will get new markets and good profits directly. Customers will also get the benefit of getting these branded fruits at their doorstep at a low price. So far orders have been placed for 4400 kg of litchi on the website. It can go up to 100000 kg during the season. Orders for mangoes will start from the last week of May.
