As the monsoon is just stepping in and there is always an unpredictability of rains, so raincoats and umbrellas have become our new accessories. But unlike regular monsoon fashion trends, this year trend can vary. Of course the reason is Covid-19 Pandemic. Today, the whole world is fighting with a major pandemic Covid-19 VIRUS. As no one literally knows when and how this pandemic will end, designers are now figuring out ways to adjust fashion with precaution.

Corona Fashion Confusion

Now if we think and imagine monsoon fashion and fashion suitable to corona virus period seems to contradict with each-other. Monsoon trends are mostly short clothes and high cuts in order to avoid moisture retain on skin while coronavirus safety requires as much as possible covered areas of skin. Also according to doctors viruses spread more in rains than dry seasons. So there is a lot more precautions needed for this season.

The fabrics that will be in are cotton, polyester and other light fabrics. For instance- full sleeve thin fabric blouses can be paired with a crop top inside to avoid getting moist and covering from exposure to the virus.

But there are some ways which may work out in both the situations i.e. they will be suitable for rains as well as can be protective from corona virus too. While one thing that is permanent in our wardrobe as of now is mask, the other daily fashion wear can be altered according to the situations. The must haves for monsoon along with regular outfits are suitable pairs of foot wears, raincoats, umbrellas, masks, gloves and sunglasses.

Corona suited Fashion

Footwear: Before stepping out into the pouring rain, it’s important to have a look at the footwear. One wrong choice in terms of footwear during monsoon can not only spoil your mood or your favorite pair of shoes but can also be bad for your skin. Avoid wearing stilettos and shoes that are made of leather, suede and velvet etc. It is advisable to opt for a rubber footwear, crocs, and colourful flip-flops that will give you a refreshing look. Flip flops are considered as the best option for this season as they have a large variety.

Socks: If you are wearing closed footwear in monsoon, make sure to wear waterproof socks which will keep your feet dry and safe from bacterial infection. There are waterproof socks which absorb moisture and helps preventing bacterial infection.

Outfits: Monsoon comes with a lot of fun but also with a lot of issues like muddy streets, unpredictable showers, unsure weather, risk of infection etc. That’s why fashion experts suggest to avoid wearing jeans, or trousers, or palazzos or maxi dresses. Instead, go for shorts, skirts and knee-length dresses that will not get dirty.

Choosing the right fabric is important. Avoid the clothes made of denim or silk, as they take a lot of time to dry up and gets ruined. Upon the arrival of rainy season, pick clothes that are made of cotton or polyester which are not only comfortable but also dry quicker. But keeping corona virus situation in mind, it’s ok to wear trousers or jumpsuits which cover full length and are made of cotton or polyester.

Masks: Masks become must wear part of fashion in this and probably upcoming years. Keeping this in mind, design experts have made variety of masks like printed masks, solid colored masks, embroidered masks, theme based masks, digitally printed masks etc. Although some people have designed masks, which is unusual and is just for aesthetic purpose, while some designers have worked on masks keeping every aspect in mind- safety, comfortability and fashion. Websites such as Amazon, Myntra, Etsy etc. are selling a variety of designer masks for different age groups and occasions.

Besides, you can experiment further by picking an umbrella with quirky prints that brings out the kid in you. So just with few precautions, you can make your look as attractive as nature in this season.
