China does not recognize Taiwan passports. At present, documents issued by China are required to come to Taiwan’s mainland.

Taiwan plans to issue a new passport to establish its independent identity. In which it will emphasize Taiwan instead of the Chinese Republic. Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a picture of the new document on Wednesday, which has ‘Taiwan’ prominently written in English in large letters, and ‘Chinese Republic’ in small words, which is its official name according to the Constitution of Taiwan.

Japan handed over Taiwan to China in the year 1945. Chiang Kai-shek established the Chinese Republic in Taiwan after four years of occupation of China by the Communist Party led by Maotse Tung in the Chinese Civil War. In fact, China does not recognize Taiwan’s passport and a document issued by China is needed to arrive on the mainland.
