I received a letter in 1972 when I was 29 years old and was elected to the US Senate, to which I still regret not replying. Perhaps a genealogist sitting in the audience could help me. I received a letter from Mumbai from a gentleman named Biden, in which he said that we both had a relationship with each other. ‘

Biden said, “Maybe our predecessors had a connection or someone came to Mumbai in 1700 to work in the East India Trading Company.” A few years later, during a speech in Washington DC, Biden said that his ancestors who worked for the ‘East India Company’ and then went to India. While addressing the US India Business Council on 21 September 2015, Biden said that ‘Biden from Mumbai’ and my ancestors were probably one, in 1848, who used to work for ‘East India Tea Company’.
He probably married an Indian woman and remained in India. In 2013, Biden told people in Mumbai that if this is true, I can contest elections in India too. During this speech, a wave of laughter rose among the audience present there.
