Sunday was a very special day for India in the Tokyo Paralympic Games. In the morning, Bhavina Patel opened India’s medal account by winning the silver medal in table tennis, and in the evening Nishad Kumar created history by winning the silver medal in the high jump.

Now two medals have come in India’s account.

Nishad Kumar, who hails from Una district of Himachal Pradesh, had made a place in the last three performing brilliantly. He competed with two athletes from America. In which Nishad had a best of 2.06 meters. Ram Pal of India finished fifth in the same event. His best was 1.94 meters.

Nishad Kumar made Asia record

Nishad Kumar has created an Asia record by winning the silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympics. In the high jump, Nishad Kumar made an Asian record by jumping 2.06 meters. America’s Dallas Wise was also awarded the silver medal as both he and Kumar jumped the same 2.06m.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nishad Kumar on winning the silver medal. PM Modi tweeted and wrote, Another good news came from Tokyo. Nishad Kumar won silver medal in high jump. Many congratulations to them.

Talking about the medal table, India is currently in 46th place after winning two medals with two silvers. While China remained at the first position with a total of 101 medals by winning 43 gold, 29 silver and 29 bronze medals.

Celebration in Nishad Kumar’s village

After winning the silver medal of Nishad Kumar in Paralympics, there is an atmosphere of celebration in his village. In Badaun village of Una district of Himachal Pradesh, the family members of Nishad celebrated by feeding each other sweets in joy. Speaking on the occasion, Nishad’s mother said, “The family has always supported Nishad’s decision to pursue athletics as a career. Nishad has made us all proud.
