Controversy has arisen with a statement by Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

He said that Lord Rama was born in Nepal.

KP Oli made this statement at the ceremony held on the birthday of poet Bhanubhakta at his official residence. There is already tension between India and Nepal.

KP Sharma Oli claimed that the real Ayodhya is a village near Birganj, Nepal, where Lord Ram was born.

Kamal Thapa, leader of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party in Nepal, has strongly objected to the statement of Prime Minister KP Oli.

He said that it is not appropriate for any Prime Minister to make such baseless and unproven statement. He said in his tweet, “It seems that PM Oli wants to further spoil the relationship between India and Nepal, while he should work to reduce the tension.”

Tension has been going on in India and Nepal for the last few months. Nepal released its new map on May 20, showing its territory to Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani. These three areas are still in India but Nepal claims that it is its territory.

Tension

Since then, tension has increased in both countries. However, earlier in November last year, India updated its map after making Jammu and Kashmir two union territories. These three areas were in this map. India says that it has not included any new areas in the map, rather these three areas are already there.

Recently, there was strong resentment in Nepal about the role of Indian media. Many Indian channels made sensational claims about Prime Minister KP Oli and Chinese Ambassador Hou Yankee. Some channels ran the story that Oli has been implicated in Honey Trap.

Nepal lodged a strong objection to these reports and asked the cable operators to stop broadcasting such Indian news channels as their responsibility.

Foreign Minister of Nepal Pradeep Gyawali said that he has asked Nepal’s Ambassador to India Nilambar Acharya to lodge a strong objection with the Indian Foreign Ministry.

Nilambar said that Indian media is deteriorating the bilateral relations between Nepal and India.

However, there have also been protests in Nepal over the activation of the Chinese ambassador.

The question arose in Nepal from the opposition to the media that such an activism of any ambassador in domestic politics is not right. This round of visits has been going on for the last two and a half months.
