Delhi University’s former Prof Arun Kumar Jha was presented ‘World Poetry Award’ in recognition of his unique Poetic Skills, Composition of Poetry on the Indian Constitution, and expertise in English Literature.

The freedom fighter and former Education Minister of Bihar, Late Lokesh Nath Jha’s son Dr AK Jha, who taught English Literature from 1974 to 2019 at the English Department of Sri Aurobindo College under the University of Delhi, is currently a practising Advocate at the Supreme Court of India. To his credit, he has the World Maiden Poetic Treatise on the Indian constitution in English and Hindi —- (1) People, the Constitution and its Pillars, (2) Reign of the People, (3) Jangan Samvidhan Ke Stambh (Hindi).

Speaking on the occasion, Prof AK Jha opined, “Poetry is the most distinctive form of communication in which humankind has found its finest expression since time immemorial.”

My World Maiden Poetic Treatises on Constitution in English and Hindi squarely fulfil the onerous tasks set by 18th Century’s Joseph Addison,  known as the father of modern media, for bringing informative philosophic and spiritual knowledge from lofty library shelves to the breakfast table for the common man to “make the world a better place to live in,” as professed by Bertrand Russell, one of the early 20th century’s most prominent logicians, as the highest political goal of humanity” Professor,Jha stated.

“The love for literature, either prose or poetry, has a great bearing on one’s personality and intellectuality. The image of society is also determined by the way people engage themselves in a wealth of literary activities as literature mirrors a society”, said noted author and social activist Dr Birbal Jha while addressing the gathering on the occasion.

“The early writing began with verses as in the Geeta, the Ramayana, the Bible or the Quran. A poem of any form has a certain rhythm and that connects the mind, heart and soul. It has a soothing and long-lasting energizing impact on human life. It touches hearts no end and creates bonding between two or more within no time ’, added Dr Birbal Jha, popularly known as the Paagman of India for his cultural crusade.

“As much as I have read Prof Jha, he is  a wise man and an extraordinary poet who has penned  a poetry on the Indian constitution’, said Rohini Prasad Tiwari,  lawyer at the top court of India.

World Poetry Day, declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1999, is celebrated every year to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and increase the opportunity for endangered languages to be heard. The main purpose of commemorating the occasion is to promote the reading, writing, publishing and teaching of poetry across the world.
